The Chief of Unit, Procurement is responsible for managing procurement activities involving multi-million-dollar expenditures and advising senior officials on all aspects of procurement.
What you'll do
- Plans, develops and manages the procurement activities of the mission involving multi-million-dollar expenditures for procurement of a broad range of goods and services.
- Advises the senior officials; provides technical and policy advice on all aspects of procurement; develops and disseminates best practices.
- Leads and directs a procurement work team
- Analyzes unusually complex and/or critical procurement proposals of financial or operational impact; determines appropriate strategy/approach to best serve institutional interests, and ensures implementation.
- Directs, manages and conducts planning, solicitation, negotiation, and, if necessary, termination of contractual and procurement action.
What it takes
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, commerce, engineering, law or a related field is required.
- A recognized qualification in procurement and contracting is desirable. Diploma in Strategic Public Procurement, CIPS Accredited Level 4 is required.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in procurement and contract management is required.
- Experience working in the Middle East is desirable.
- A minimum of five (5) years of UN field mission experience is required.
