The role

The Chief of Communications will lead and strategically guide the activities of the communication sections and units to ensure strategic alignment and effective delivery of the organization's objectives.

What you'll do

  • Lead and strategically guide the activities of the communication sections and units
  • Provide the vision and leadership to develop and implement the communications strategy
  • Guide and manage different communications workstreams
  • Chair and lead the Inter-Agency Standing Committee communications group
  • Advise senior management on strategic communications, crisis communications, and reputational risk
  • Oversee and lead the implementation of strategic communications policy, guidance, and training

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in communications, journalism, international relations, digital communications or related field
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience in communications, international relations, or other relevant areas
  • Knowledge of current and emerging digital media platforms, their principles and technologies
  • Knowledge of strategic communications principles and practices
  • Previous experience and skills to lead teams, guide and mentor staff, and oversee their work to ensure successful completion of projects
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in crisis communication in a humanitarian, development, or peacekeeping setting
