The role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in San Diego is seeking a Career Development Specialist to support opportunity youth ages 16–24 in the Connect2Work program. This role provides comprehensive case management, career coaching, and workforce navigation services to youth facing barriers to employment and education. The specialist will build partnerships with local employers and community organizations to facilitate job placements and educational advancement for program participants. This position is a trauma-informed role that requires a commitment to empowering young adults through individualized career pathways.

What you'll do

  • Conduct outreach, intake, and eligibility screening for youth participants.
  • Develop and monitor Individual Service Strategies (ISS) for career and education goals.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching in work readiness, resume development, and interviewing.
  • Cultivate partnerships with employers and community stakeholders to expand career opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with WIOA and organizational standards.

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in human services.
  • Proven experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills for multi-cultural environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle.
