The role
The consultant will assist the CITES Secretariat in supporting the intersessional working group on the capacity-building framework, including preparing a background paper and survey for CITES Parties.
What you'll do
- Prepare a background paper including mapping existing activities and initiatives, reviewing frameworks, identifying lessons learned, and defining elements for the framework
- Develop a survey for CITES Parties to collect information on capacity-building support needs and gaps
- Analyze survey results and prepare summary reports
- Support regional consultations or technical workshops as needed
What it takes
- Master's degree in environmental policy, conservation, social sciences, public administration or related field
- At least 7 years of experience in capacity-building, institutional strengthening, or related fields within international environmental governance
- Experience conducting analytical reviews and mapping exercises
- Proven experience designing, administering, and analyzing structured surveys
- Knowledge of MEAs and capacity-building frameworks
