The role
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Jordan is seeking a Blue Economy Specialist to support the operationalization of the Blue Economy Center for Innovation (BECI) and lead key initiatives in Aqaba, Jordan.
What you'll do
- Provide strategic and technical support for the development and operationalization of BECI's technical programme and service portfolio.
- Support the development of BECI's operational framework, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), governance arrangements, and partnership mechanisms.
- Support the identification, assessment, and development of a pipeline of bankable Blue Economy and circular economy investment concepts.
- Support the replenishment of the Gulf of Aqaba Resilient Reefs Programme (GFCR) and contribute to technical consultations and partner coordination.
- Lead the technical preparation and coordination of the Second International Blue Economy Symposium.
- Support strategic partnerships that promote innovation, sustainable Blue Economy development, and investment opportunities in Aqaba.
What it takes
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences, environmental economics, business administration, management, or any other related degree.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience (with a master’s degree) or nine (9) years (with a bachelor’s degree) in environmental management, environmental economics, coastal zone management, organizational transformation.
- Experience in project management of complex/large-scale projects.
- Experience in institutional capacity development and transformation.
- Fluency in both Arabic and English.
- Desired skills: Experience in natural resources management and sustainability, blue economy planning, fund-raising and proposal writing, designing or operationalizing innovation platforms, or business incubation programmes.
