The role
Provide technical biomedical engineering expertise to support infrastructure upgrades at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Barbados. Lead the review of technical specifications, procurement evaluations, and layout coordination for specialized hospital systems, notably medical waste treatment (autoclaves) and morgue facilities.
What you'll do
- Review and prepare technical specifications for new medical and specialized equipment
- Support the preparation and review of technical specifications, evaluation criteria, and other technical sections of solicitation documents
- Review medical equipment requirements and their interfaces with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs
- Provide technical support for the procurement, installation, and commissioning of mortuary refrigeration systems, autopsy equipment, and associated accessories
- Review suppliers' equipment installation plans, technical submissions, and commissioning procedures
- Review equipment operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, spare parts lists, and other handover documentation
What it takes
- Advanced university degree in Biomedical Engineering or related field
- Relevant professional experience in biomedical engineering
- Experience in reviewing equipment requirements and coordinating their interfaces with hospital infrastructure
- Fluent English
- Desirable: Professional certification or specialized training in biomedical engineering, medical equipment management, or equipment testing and commissioning
