The role
Behavioral Health Technician I provides direct care and therapeutic support in a safe, structured environment for individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises.
What you'll do
- Supervise and support individuals in care, maintaining safety and program structure
- Perform safety checks and document observations accurately
- Conduct 1:1 engagement to encourage treatment participation and emotional regulation
- Obtain vital signs at required intervals
- Administer medications (QMAP)
- Assist with admissions and discharges, including orientation and documentation
What it takes
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field
- QMAP, First Aid, and CPR required
- Behavioral Health Technician Certification or Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant (QBHA) preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness
- Crisis setting experience preferred
- Must meet qualifications outlined in 6 CCR 1011-1 Chapter 07
