The role

The incumbent will provide advice on aviation safety matters, develop and manage the Mission Aviation Safety Programme, and coordinate with host country civil and military aviation authorities.

What you'll do

  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Mission Aviation Safety Programme (MASP)
  • Support the coordination and organization of aviation safety drills and exercises
  • Monitor the integration of Aviation Risk Management into UN aviation activities
  • Develop quarterly Risk Assessment Indicators and analyze the level of safety of aviation activities
  • Conduct safety surveys of airfields and helicopter landing sites
  • Draft Safety Bulletins, Newsletters and consolidated Reports

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in Air Transportation, Aviation Safety Management, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or Air Traffic Management
  • Training as a Commercial Pilot or a Flight Operations Officer/Flight Dispatcher
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in air transportation, air traffic control operations, aviation safety or aviation engineering
