What you'll do
- Manage all claims for Terrafirma Risk Retention Group and supervise outside counsel.
- Coordinate and staff the Claims Committee, including preparation of reports and delegated determinations.
- Oversee the annual Terrafirma Policy form review and update process.
- Collaborate with the Conservation Defense Director to manage the Conservation Defense Initiative (CDI).
- Ensure sound financial, legal, and regulatory management for ARMS in partnership with the Operations Manager.
What it takes
- Law degree and active membership in at least one state bar.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in conservation stewardship or conservation law.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with a land trust on stewardship and enforcement disputes.
- Expert knowledge of land conservation law, nonprofit corporations, and federal tax law.
- Proven experience in managing contractors, staff, and complex multi-stakeholder projects.
