The role

The Great Basin Institute is recruiting an Archaeologist to assist with cultural resource management activities at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, including archaeological surveys and documentation.

What you'll do

  • Assist with archeological surveys and documentation of sites
  • Conduct archeological monitoring in areas threatened by unauthorized off-road driving
  • Draft site forms and report sections using recently collected data
  • Participate in historic preservation projects as part of a crew

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, archaeology or related discipline (by position start date)
  • Six months of professional fieldwork experience
  • An accredited archaeological field school and relevant field methods training coursework
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting with USFS staff, GBI staff, interns, volunteers, academic, state, and federal partners
