The role
The After School Swim Instructor at Roberts School provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for up to 15 students during swim lessons from 3-5 pm, Monday through Thursday.
What you'll do
- Instruct swim lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines
- Meet conduct and supervision standards set forward by the Syracuse City School District
- Develop positive relationships with participants and provide motivational support and guidance
- Wear a uniform consistent with branch dress code
- Set-up, organize and clean-up all class materials
- Communicate with parents responding to questions or comments about the class
What it takes
- Possess the ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke technique
- Must be people oriented and possess good communication skills
- Complete online Bloodborne Pathogens, Employee Safety and Youth Protection Series trainings prior to initial assignment to position
- Must hold and maintain current CPR, AED, first aid and oxygen administration within 60-days of hire date
- Must complete online Hazard Communication training within the first 90-days of employment
- Must be fingerprinted by SCSD’s security office and cleared to work in the school
