The role

The Advocacy & Prevention Specialist at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) is responsible for providing direct services to survivors of sexual assault, offering prevention education, and engaging in community outreach and advocacy.

What you'll do

  • Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to survivors of sexual assault
  • Facilitate prevention education to youth, adults, and professionals
  • Develop and coordinate supportive activities for survivors
  • Maintain DOH Rape Crisis Counselor/Advocate certification
  • Support the manager in revising and updating workshops
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteer staff

What it takes

  • Education, lived experience, and/or professional experience related to advocacy, prevention, and community engagement
  • Ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities
  • Flexible schedule necessary, including evening and/or weekend work
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License with use of personal vehicle
  • Bilingual- Spanish/English preferred
  • Experience with working on-call and operating a hotline preferred
