The role
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and results-oriented Advisor, Mental Health to support countries in strengthening mental health systems and services, advancing suicide prevention initiatives, and promoting evidence-based policies and programs that improve mental health and well-being throughout the Region.
What you'll do
- Provide technical, strategic advice and programmatic direction for the implementation of mental health and suicide prevention programs.
- Support Member States in the development and implementation of mental health policies, plans, legislation, services, and evidence-based interventions.
- Strengthen national mental health systems and services, with emphasis on primary health care and community-based approaches.
What it takes
- A university degree in a health-related profession and a master’s in mental health, public health, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Nine years of combined national and international experience in the planning and management of mental health services and programs.
- Fluency in English or Spanish with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese would be an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use current technology and software, spreadsheets and presentations, as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and management information systems.
