The role
The Adult Salmonid Trapping and Evaluation Biologist will serve as a lead biologist for monitoring and evaluating Snake River summer steelhead, focusing on work at Lyons Ferry Hatchery and in the field throughout Southeast Washington. Responsibilities include conducting biological monitoring, evaluation, and research, and coordinating data collection and sharing with co-managers and partners.
What you'll do
- Serve as a lead adult trapping biologist for the Lower Snake River Compensation Plan’s Monitoring and Evaluation of Lyons Ferry Hatchery Complex
- Maintain and proof trapping databases for summer steelhead, spring Chinook, and bull trout
- Direct and lead crew members in collecting biological samples and measurements
- Assist with developing LSRCP Statements of Work and Budgets and implement work plans
- Develop and write research and project proposals and solicit external funding
- Serve as a WDFW technical representative to the LSRCP summer steelhead program
What it takes
- Bachelor's Degree in fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, or environmental science
- Three (3) years of professional experience in fish management or research
- Two (2) years as a Fish & Wildlife Biologist 2
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products and R
- Writing technical reports and giving presentations
